Sometimes a little inspiration is just what the doctor ordered, and with these long Calgary nights we’ve been having, pendant designs should help us light things up. 😉
But before we inspire some lightbulb moments, remember when I mentioned that we would be designing a booth for the first time in the Calgary Renovation Show? Well…
It was a hit, my friends!
We brought our design to life with partners Unique Projects and Divine Flooring (remember these fine folks from our Stargazer Reading Fort?), Sunview Cabinetry, Subzero Wolf + EQ3, Cosentino, FloForm, Adera Technologies, Colin Campbell, and Unideco Painting.
Then we sipped celebratory champagne after chatting the days away with all the home-loving visitors who passed our way. (If you stopped by, thank you!)
The cherry on top of the sundae was hearing that our design received the award for Rookie of the Year. Job well done, team!
Alright, let’s talk about these swoon-worthy pendants…
1. PENDANT DESIGNS IN FABULOUS COLOUR
*Gasp!* Exquisite design in fabulous colour… I love colour! These lights by Canadian designers are high on my wishlist for a 2020 design project. (Maybe yours??) I can picture them over an island, in a powder room, or lighting up a dashing foyer. They look stunning on or off!
2. ORGANIC SHAPE THAT INSPIRES LIFE AND WARMTH
I first saw this light in the home of Jacquie Kai Ellis, a Canadian author living in Paris. I fell in love with her memoir first, then her style. (She’s a great follow on Instagram too!) This pendant’s organic shape can bring life and warmth to even the most austere interior, and it looks terrific in a classic interior as well. Gorgeous and versatile.
3. WHIMSICAL PENDANT DESIGNS THAT PACK CHARACTER
Did you say whimsy? These Alice in Wonderland-esque shaded shapes would add instant character to a room. I would love to see them hanging over bedroom nightstands, in a chic powder room, or accenting a moody bar. Can you picture it?
4. SIMPLE, SLEEK & OH SO SEXY
Simple does not mean boring. Just look at those details. Cut glass and the perfect milky glass shade. Elegant brushed brass and matte black. The details elevate these pendants beyond the usual. And how about that sleek, canopy-less installation? Divine!
5. RICH, WOOD GRAIN INTERIOR FINISH = A HAPPY ACCIDENT
This pendant was a top pick from my trip to ICFF last year. A happy accident resulted in this pendant’s rich, wood grain interior finish (from the turning tool)… and you know I love details! I could see this beauty over a dining nook or as a centre light in a family room.
6. A TRIED & TRUE CLASSIC
This sexy little number is tried and true. We’ve used this pendant in Matte Black in foyers and over islands. Its classic shape works in both modern and traditional spaces and adds instant drama and character. We’re now in love with this Matte Cobalt version. The second best part? It’s made to order so that drop is juuuust right!
In 2020, I am most excited about the way design is changing — I love that the formerly rigid idea of “style” is becoming more and more flexible. These days, it’s more about what you love than what category it all fits into. So you can get creative and experiment!
What are you most excited for design-wise in 2020? If you’re ready to make it happen, we’re ready to help!
